Kevin George Poe(Online name "spydr101"), 24-year-old, of Manchester, Connecticut, was charged with conspiracy and unauthorized impairment of a protected computer.
“We evaluated servers and were able to discern an IP address that brought us to him,” said Thom Mrozek, a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles. “There was a significant amount of forensic work involved. We are dealing with a group that is quite sophisticated and will take efforts to conceal their identity.”
According to the indictment, Poe used a hacking tool Low Orbit Ion Cannon that can launch DDOS attack on any website.
Anonymous hackers targeted Gene Simmons after he spoke on a panel about building entertainment brands at the MIPCOM convention in Cannes:
"Make sure your brand is protected. Make sure there are no incursions. Be litigious. Sue everybody. Take their homes, their cars. Don't let anybody cross that line, The music industry was asleep at the wheel, and didn't have the balls to sue every fresh-faced, freckle-faced college kid who downloaded material. And so now we're left with hundreds of thousands of people without jobs. There's no industry."
If convicted, Poe could face up to 15 years in federal prison.
