Central Bureau of Investigation has issued an alert notifying users about spam emails that purported to be sent from CBI.
"The Sender(s) falsely claim that Central Bureau of Investigation is monitoring financial transactions of individuals and authenticating/proposing to take action on such transactions." said in the advisory.
The spam mail, apparently coming from addresses such as statepoliceservice@gmail.com, cbi.policedesk.india@gmail.com, cbi-desk@indiapolice.in, or csa@cbi.gov.in.
According to the advisory, the messages have been found to contain, or point to, malicious and “misleading” content.
" The general public is cautioned that Central Bureau of Investigation does not send such mails, and they should not respond to such e-mails."
Users who received such fake e-mails are advised to report them to the CBI’s New Delhi offices at: information@cbi.gov.in.
