LogMeIn CEO Michael Simon remarked, “We believe this transaction instantly gives us a market leading position in password management, while also providing a highly favorable foundation for delivering the next generation of identity and access management solutions to individuals, teams and companies.”
Unfortunately the customers of LastPass don’t appear to be too happy with its deal with LogMeIn because the fact that the deal involve the exchange of highly sensitive data. LogMeIn allows IT techs remotely access client computers.
On the comment section on LastPass’ blog post about the new deal shows how disappointed are with this deal. “Well that sucks. Any recommendations for alternative password service?“ wrote a user Andrew. One of the anonymous user wrote, “Are you CRAZY?!? This news has just ruined my day. Now I’m going to have to spend this weekend moving to an other password manager. LogMeIn is probably one of the most unethical software companies in existence. Seriously, this is just one step above selling to the NSA. What contempt for your user base.”
In response to all this criticism, LogMeIn President and COO Bill Wagner issued statement, “LastPass is actually a lot more similar to our join.me product: Both are great, simple to use products serving large, growing markets,” Wagner wrote. “Both have the highest customer satisfaction of any of the products in their respective space. Both have free products that we expect will be around for a long time to come.”
