Erebus Ransomware: South Korean web hosting company pays $1m Ransom

 A new version of ransomware called Erebus has affected more than 153-Linux based networks, which has  targeted one of the biggest South Korean web hosting company, NAYANA, as per reports of HackRead.

Due to this attack companies suffered a massive data infiltration inform of multimedia files, databases, and other critical network-level information. After the attackers  hijack the users systems thay demand a ransom whose amount was not disclosed.

According to the most updates by the company, the total ransom demanded amount is  $4.4 million which has to be paid in Bitcoins.  However, the company officials brought down ransom amount from $4.4m to $1.8m, and they further managed to get it reduced by $1.2m.

To reduce the affect of ransomware attack that affected more than 3,000 clients of the company. They allegedly agreed to pay the ransom and  paid it in four installments, and they  have paid around $1 million by now.

Even after paying the huge ransom amount, the clients' are dissappointed because the network has not yet been restored and officials of the company say that the recovery process will take time.
