Experts from Russian antivirus and cyber security firm, Kaspersky Lab has said that India is on top of the target list of cyber criminals during Interpol World 2017 conference in Singapore.
“Countries like India are developing so fast, it opens the doors for more cyber attacks,“ said Stephan Neumeier, managing director of Kaspersky Lab Asia Pacific.
“While India's economy is growing fast, more people are getting access to the internet, large cities have 4G and Android devices are becoming popular. People need to be educated about antivirus solutions, and be made aware of not falling for phishing attacks,“ he said.
According to the cyber security experts, India along with several South Asian countries like Bangladesh, Philippines, etc are at greatest threat.
Meanwhile India managed to protect itself from the massive hit by the recent WannaCry ransomware and Petya cyber attacks, but still, it had some incidents of a cyber hack at one of the three terminals in Mumbai's Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT).
Even, the Internet security solutions firm Symantec has recently said that India was among the top ten countries to be impacted by the cyber attack.
“There were some instances of ransomware attacks in India, while we perceive that banks are also at threat in the country,“ said Vitaly Kamluk, director of global research and analysis team at Kaspersky.
“National and critical security is important, and countries which do not invest into it will be hit,“ said Eugene Kaspersky, CEO, Kaspersky Lab.
Kaspersky Lab has announced that they have developed an open-sourced digital tool called BitScout to help in collecting cyber attack evidence.
