Mic issue in iPhone7, iPhone7Plus after iOS 11.3.1 update

Apple’s recent iOS 11.3.1 update has left speechless to thousands of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus owners. The new update which was released in the late week of April has reportedly disabled the working of the microphone during phone calls and FaceTime video chats.

According to an internal Apple Authorized Service Provider document obtained by MacRumours, users are complaining that they are unable to make voice calls, video calls on FaceTime or even record voice memos. However, the problem remains intact even after a hard reset of the phone.

"...affected customers may experience a grayed-out speaker button during phone calls. The issue may also prevent affected customers from being heard during phone calls or FaceTime video chats," says the MacRumours report quoting the memo.

Reportedly, Apple has admitted the bug and is working hard to fix the bug as soon as possible.

Affected devices of Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will show “device could not detect dock” or “accessory not supported” alert in the diagnostic pane.  If your device shows this, then the service provider can initiate repair for that iPhone which is free of cost.

“I finally got the time to play with it today, updated to iOS 11.3.1 first, it didn’t fix any of my phone’s problems so restored the phone, set it up as a new phone etc... Nothing is working. My mic hardware is ok, iOS 11.2 was just fine,” one Reddit user wrote.

Apple didn't respond to a request for comment.
